In 1979, Women in the Wind founder, Becky Brown, placed an article in the Toledo Blade seeking female motorcycle riders to join her for a ride along the Maumee River. Ten women joined her for the ride.

The annual River Run ride commemorates this event.

RIDE SAFETY EXPECTATIONS

Ride in staggered formation.

Follow had signals given by the ride leader.

Do not block intersections.

Obey all traffic signals after the police escorted portion of the ride.

Do not pass to change your position in the group.

Follow any additional safety protocols presented in the riders meeting.
